Workshop Day Events

Members of City Clickers have regularly attended the Lancashire Wallopers workshop weekend each February and the Reading Cloggies workshop day usually held in October. When in 2002 it became evident that Reading were no longer going to run their event we talked amongst ourselves about the need in the south of England for a day of workshops where clog dancers could learn new material, meet and exchange ideas (and gossip)

At the same time the Morris Federation were keen to provide a service to their clog and step dance members. These two conversations came together early in 2004 and City Clickers agreed, with substantial help from the Federation, to host a day of workshops in October 2004.

Planning of this year's workshop which will take place on October 25th is now complete:

  • Kathryn Tattersall of Camden Clog teaching some advanced heel and toe steps from the dancing of Pat Tracey.
  • Melanie Barber of Instep, Sharp,Boojum and many others who will teach a lovely routine of hornpipe steps from Bert Bowden. This will be an intermediate class.
  • Simon Harmer of Chequered Flag will be teaching an Old-style Ontario step dance. The class will suit step dancers with some experience.
  • For complete beginners and dancers who want to improve their style, we are very pleased to have Lynnette Eldon of Green Ginger Clog who will be teaching steps from the North-East of England which she learned from the champion clog dancer Johnson Ellwood.
